Posters :)

Thanks to the wonderful Emma Pendle we now finally have our posters for 'I Saw Them Fall' and Wade In The Water'. The promo film for 'I Saw Them Fall' will be hopefully be edited and finished soon so watch this space!!

Wade In The Water

Rehearsals for our newest piece, Wade in The Water are going  really well. We had our first work in progress performance on Thursday night (8/11/12) and considering small rush to create material, we received positive feedback from the other performers and artists.

We are currently working on 3 separate sections of the performance, which we aim to fragment and mix up for the final performance. Our first section we have completed a solid chunk of which we feel is working really well. Our feedback from the performance gave us a few new ideas to be working with and our new venture in the use of props is proving rich in terms of new movement vocabulary and ideas.

Not long to go now until the wonderful Ffin Dance will be hosting us at their Winter Dance Faktry Festival in Abertillery, Wales. We are feeling really positive with how the piece is progressing and look forward to the performance here. Our latest work has been on some new lifts and contact work, it’s been risky stuff, almost resulting in a broken arm in our first contact rehearsal! It’s really refreshing for us to work in the way that we have for this duet and are excited for the outcome of the finished piece!

Day 4 of I Saw Them Fall

Hi!

So we are currently on day 4 of our intensive week of choreographing for our new piece I Saw Them Fall and what an amazing start to this creative process it has been!

Starting with yoga at 8am every morning sounds horrendous but honestly it has been such a good way to kick start our day. Although we all ache from the yoga, it really has helped us to go that little bit further each day and to treat ourselves yesterday we had Scott Jackson come in and give us all sports massages. We would definitely commend him! To follow this we have had Jess Mcmunn's technique classes which allow us to get our bodies prepared for the afternoon of choreographing. These classes are so much fun as we get to explore floor work, travelling sequences and strong technique that we all need to employ in the new piece.

After this Sarah then moves on to the task of choreographing! The tasks that she has given to each individual dancer have created such a vast range of movement but that is the beauty of working with such talented and imaginative people. Wow that is cheesy! Sorry long days are starting to send us all a bit loopy!

The ensemble sections are really starting to take shape and with the lighting that we are now working with, they are looking fantastic. We are still in the stages of developing these sections, playing around with the timing, formations and adding other sequences within the ensemble section. Many bruises are emerging from these sections but none the less we will soldier on through. The

One of my personal favourite moments in one of the ensemble pieces is the Britney move! Yes! Don't you worry Britney fans, there is definitely a bit of Britney in the piece. Well, inspiration comes from anywhere right?!?!

The duets and trios are coming on a treat with some incredible lift work and contact between the dancers.

We still have a lot of work to do but it is all exciting! Definitely getting nervous with our first work in progress performance tomorrow :S but very excited to hear the feedback.

We have been very snap happy so keep an eye out on our Facebook page for some sneaky releases of our rehearsal but before i go i will leave you with one more little treat :)

We will carry on for today and try not to get any more bruises for tomorrow!

Bye for now
